Richard Tindell, asla - Principal
Richard Tindell offers his clients more than 35 years of experience and
expertise in landscape architecture. Known in his field for design and management
of complex projects that require the coordination of many elements, Richard's
philosophy is based on "reality-based design" - a belief that
the role of the landscape architect is to listen to the client, to carefully
study the site and to develop innovative, customized designs for each project.
His strength lies in the ability to understand the whole while paying attention
to every intricate detail.
A graduate of Roosevelt University, Chicago, Richard began his career
as the owner of a landscape "design/build" nursery in Deerfield
Beach, Florida where he developed the firm into a professional design studio
with projects that included golf courses, resort and themed communities,
commercial and government centers, campuses and intimate private gardens.
He went on to become the owner and principal landscape architect for Dragonfly
Cay Collaborative on Florida's east coast with projects from Richmond to
Key West. Richard also served as adjunct professor in landscape technology
for more than 20 years at Broward College, and is an instructor for the
National Garden Club design school.
In 2005 Richard took the opportunity to work with his friend and mentor,
J. Roland "Jack" Lieber. This association evolved and Greenwork
Studio, Inc. - a landscape architectural practice located in Naples, Florida
was formed. Work includes Naples Bay Resort, Renaissance Village in Naples,
Frenchman's Reserve in Palm Beach Gardens, Historic Cemetery Renovation
in Immokalee, several parks and roadway beautification projects,
An active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Richard
is a popular speaker and published many articles on the garden and landscape
design. He was editor of the "Landscape & Nursery Digest"
and the professional magazine "Florida Landscape Architecture".
"As architects of the landscape, we see the reality of today and
imagine how it might be in the future. By integrating inspiration and functionality,
we create an ordered space that offers peace and tranquility... a place
that is useful and just feels right."
